Yavapai College Expands Community Education Programming

With classes starting in March, Gottschalk plans to make as many classes as possible available throughout the Verde Valley.

“Fresh programming brings more excitement, interest and opportunities to the community,” Gottschalk says. “The new classes we’re offering reflect the interests and needs of a variety of ages and talents of Verde Valley residents.” Offerings include retirement planning, home design, outdoor cooking, beginner’s Italian, and home beer-brewing basics. CEDC Pledges $10,000 for Southwest Wine Center

“We are sending a big message to the community that the CEDC supports great economic development initiatives such as the Southwest Wine Center. Yavapai College Nursing Program Accreditation Update

The team’s recommendation is for continued accreditation of the program. Lynne Leakey Presents Free African Safari Slide Show

Leakey, who calls Sedona home when she is not in Africa, has observed and studied the wildlife, ecology and people of central Africa throughout her career. Yavapai College Receives $1.25 Million Federal Grant for Veterans Upward Bound Program

Grant will support hundreds of northern Arizona veterans over the next five years

Verde Valley AZ (November 1, 2012) – Yavapai College has received a $1.25 million grant over five years to fund its Veterans Upward Bound (VUB)-TRiO program for qualified veterans in Northern Arizona. The college is one of just 51 colleges in the country to receive a Veterans Upward Bound grant from the U. S. Department of Education.

“We are extremely proud of our Veterans Upward Bound-TRiO Program at Yavapai College,” said Jane Hersh, District Director for TRiO Programs. “This grant will allow us to continue supporting eligible veterans by giving them the tools, resources and encouragement they need to reach their educational and occupational goals.” Read More→

Mapping Arizona’s Future – Statewide Forum Simulcast to Sedona

Verde Valley AZ (September 23, 2012) – Yavapai College is joining Project Civil Discourse as a simulcast site for a statewide forum on three key initiatives on the ballot in the November election. The discussion, called “Mapping Arizona’s Future,” will be September 27, 6-9 p.m. at Yavapai College Sedona Center for Arts & Technology, 4215 Arts Village Drive, Sedona. The event is free and public participation is encouraged.

Jewish Community Foundation, Yavapai College Collaborate To Provide Healthcare Scholarships

Yavapai College Program Serves Veterans’ Education Needs

Prescott AZ (August 30, 2012) - Military veterans throughout northern Arizona who are looking for help to further their education beyond high school are encouraged to contact the Veterans Upward Bound TRIO program (VUB) at Yavapai College.

The federally funded VUB program is designed to motivate and assist veterans in developing academic and other skills needed for acceptance and success in college. Among the services offered to qualifying veterans are admissions counseling, academic refresher training, career planning and advising. Yavapai College Film Program Renaming Highlights Sedona Connection

Sedona AZ (August 16, 2012) – Yavapai College’s growing film program is beginning the school year with new students and a new name, the Sedona Film School at Yavapai College. The film program will remain located in the Sedona Center for Arts & Technology in Sedona.

The new name was proposed and approved by the Film School Advisory Board and was supported in discussions among leaders of the City of Sedona and Yavapai College. Yavapalooza Features Live Music, Interactive ‘Hunger Games’

YC Verde Valley Campus Readies for New Semester
