Cottonwood AZ (May 7, 2014) – Yavapai College’s Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) honored the academic achievements of 18 Yavapai College students at CTEC’s annual recognition event held April 25 at the Yavapai College Prescott campus.
Katy Welch, an electronics student who lives in Cottonwood, received the President’s Award for Excellence. Jeanne L. Miller, a Prescott resident in the administration of justice program, received the Vice President’s Award for Academic Excellence. Clarkdale AZ (March 28, 2014) – It took a wellspring of personal resolve and a boost from the Verde Valley community for Cottonwood resident Rebecca “Jade” McCullough to keep her academic career on track.
Serious health challenges and the rigors of living as a twenty-something single mother put McCullough’s quest for higher education and a better life on the back burner. Fortunately, providence intervened in the form of The Sedona Women organization. Clarkdale AZ (March 19, 2014) – The Yavapai College Verde Valley campus hosts the Verde Valley SciTech Festival Expo on Friday, March 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. The Expo, which is free and open to the public, is an extension of the statewide Arizona SciTech Festival, held annually in February and March. The event celebrates science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and features a variety of exhibitions, workshops, expos and tours across the state to underscore how STEM will influence Arizona for the next century. First Teaching Winery in Southwest U.S. Moves Closer to Completion
Clarkdale AZ (March 4, 2014) – After two months of construction, the exterior structure of the Southwest Wine Center on the Yavapai College Verde Valley campus has been completed.
According to Tom Beveridge, FCI Constructors project superintendent, the building’s interior concrete slab will be placed this week with framing and electrical/plumbing work to follow. “The roof and exterior finishing will begin later this month with a targeted final completion date of June 13. Focus Groups and Media Survey Aim to Improve Outreach

Clarkdale AZ (January 6, 2014) – The Yavapai College Verde Valley Art Gallery will present Patricia McMullen-Mikles’ new work created during sabbatical leave at a free exhibition of her art, running January 13 to February 13, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on January 16.
Patricia McMullen-Mikles teaches drawing, painting, color theory, design and portfolio classes at Yavapai College, and is the founder of the Verde Art Gallery at Yavapai College in Clarkdale, Arizona. She received her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1976 and her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the same institution in 1973. Read More→
Verde Valley AZ (October 25, 2013) – Yavapai College employees have selected the Central Arizona Food Bank in Cottonwood and Prescott Area Shelter Services in Prescott as their non-profit partner organizations for the 2013-14 academic year.
The College has a practice of involving employees in the selection of two area nonprofits each year to support—one in the Verde Valley and one in the Prescott area. “Yavapai College employees chose the area of ‘families and children’ as this year’s focus for service and giving,” said Service and Giving Committee co-Chair Rose Hurley. Prescott AZ (July 8, 2013) – All Yavapai College campuses will be closed on Tuesday, July 9 out of respect for the 19 fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots team members and in conjunction with Tuesday’s memorial gathering at Tim’s Toyota Center.
“Many of our fallen fire fighters were our students, and many of us were affected personally by their loss,” Dr. Penny Wills, YC president, noted in an e-mail to the college community.
The YC Performing Arts Center will be open for community members to view the free live broadcast of the memorial gathering, which is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. PAC doors open at 10 a.m., and seating will be on a first-come basis. The PAC is located on the Prescott campus at 1100 E. Sheldon St.
Prescott AZ (July 3, 2013) – The Yavapai College Foundation is creating a scholarship fund for the children and spouses of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots team members who perished in the Yarnell Hill fire on June 30.
“This is a long-term commitment that is very personal for us,” said Steve Walker, the Yavapai College vice president of advancement. “Most of the team members were students at Yavapai College, and many were in our fire science program. Clarkdale AZ (June 19, 2013) – The “College for Kids” summer program at Yavapai College is offering an exciting course in alternative energy. Titled “Nature’s Power Drive,” the course takes young students from reading about alternative energies to applying them.
