Straight out of Paris, award winning oil painter
tackles Sedona's red rocks May 15 - 22
Sedona, AZ - May 02, 2008 - Art lovers have an
exceptional opportunity to see Sedona's landscape
through the eyes of a third generation, world-class,
award winning oil painter, Pal Breznay.
Originally from Budapest, now residing in Paris, Breznay
works in a style he terms "New Realism – Virgin Vision," a fresh and
graceful approach to the canvas. New Realism is a loose, yet true
representation of a scene with heartfelt depth and incomparable use
of light.
Breznay has turned his brush and canvas towards the
American southwest for the first time and the results are dramatic.
"A Parisian Painter in Sedona – Phenomenon of Light" will open at
Sun Gallery (at 340 Jordan Rd, corner of Apple, in Uptown Sedona) on
Thursday, May 15 and an artist's reception will take place on
Saturday, May 17 from 3pm – 8pm.
Pal Breznay was born in Budapest, Hungary and first educated there
at the University of the Arts. His instruction then continued at the
Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, Italy and the Academy of Fine Arts
in Paris, France. Breznay has been shown continually in French
galleries since 1991 and since 2000 his permanent showing is at
Galerie Etienne de Causans in Paris. Longtime Sedona residents and
patrons of the arts, Maria and Andras Nevai, have brought Pal
Breznay to Arizona and have organized this special exhibition to
share the brilliance and vision of an internationally recognized
painter with our community.
The exhibition will present brand new works created during this,
Breznay's first visit to the US past the East Coast. Paintings of
some of our favorite sites, from a Breznay point of view, will
include Red Rock Crossing, views at the Airport, Red Rock Loop Road,
Highway 89A, Slide Rock, Grand Canyon. etc. – approximately 25 works
in all. The value of Pal's paintings has grown significantly
throughout his career, with the past three years showing doubled
values from each prior year. His work is in over 150 collections
around the world including New York, Paris, London, Brussels,
Peking, Istanbul, and all over Hungary and Germany.
A unique addition to the show will be documentary photographs by
Andras Nevai, who followed the artist on location. Each painting
will be shown next to photographs of the work being created. Nevai
has been a commercial and prize-winning fine art photographer for
over 50 years. Both the paintings and photographs will be available
for purchase.
The exhibition "A Parisian in Sedona – Phenomenon of Light" will be
housed in the Sun Gallery from May 15 – 22, 2008. An Opening
Reception and celebration with the artist will take place on
Saturday, May 17 from 3pm – 8pm. Refreshments will be served.
The duration of the exhibition will be open weekdays 7am – 7pm and
weekends 10am – 5pm. The reception and exhibition are free of charge
and open to the public. For more information, please call
