(Sedona, Arizona) - March 3-4, 2007 -
The par 72 6,114 yard Robert Trent Jones designed course at the
Oak Creek Country Club in Sedona, Arizona was the venue for this year's women's
college 2007 Red Rocks Invitational 36-hole golf tournament hosted by defending
champion Northern Arizona University (NAU).
NAU junior Sophia Choi, sophomore Ali
Carter and seniors Heather Jabczenski , Vicki Power and Noel Larson represented
the Lumberjacks.
The field for the 2007 Red Rocks Invitational included 16 teams: Eastern Michigan, Gonzaga, Michigan,
Western Michigan, Montana, Montana State,
Nebraska, Northern Arizona, Northwestern, Portland, Portland State, UC
Riverside, Utah Valley, Washington State, William and Mary, and Wyoming.

Seven teams returned for a second consecutive season to the event, including Gonzaga, Montana, Montana State, Northern Arizona,
Portland State, UC Riverside and Western Michigan.
As expected, the highest ranked team in the field
Northwestern University (30) won with a 601 total score, followed by Washington
State University with a 602 and Michigan (34) with a 609.
The individual medalist was Liliana Alvarez (82) from
Northwestern University with +3 total score of 147.
Spectator attendance
was meager for this event due likely to a combination of limited advertising and the Sedona
International Film Festival that took place this weekend.

Last year NAU junior
Vicki Power birdied three of her final five holes to help Northern Arizona tie
with a 623 for the team title with Texas-El Paso. Sophomore Sophia Choi was the top finisher for the
Lumberjacks in second place overall after a four-over par 76 to finish two
strokes behind individual medalist Mary Kate Morgan of Gonzaga.
