Sedona mobile home program nears completion SEDONA, AZ (June 23, 2009) - One deteriorating mobile home in Sedona has been replaced and another one has been rehabilitated under the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The City expects to replace a third deteriorating
mobile home later this summer. CDBG funds were
awarded to the City of Sedona by the Arizona
Department of Housing. Low and moderate income
owners of deteriorated mobile homes in Sedona were
eligible to apply for the program. NACOG (the
Northern Arizona Council of Governments) provided
technical assistance.
The families that participated in the program agree. Says one recipient of a replacement mobile home, “I am so thankful for this program. I had lived in my old mobile home for nearly 32 years and it was just falling apart around me. We even had two fires in our electrical outlets because the wiring was so old. We’re on a limited income and it was hard to keep it livable. We are immensely grateful, especially to the City and NACOG who worked so hard to make my dream come true.” Work on the three mobile homes will not utilize
all the CDBG funds, and the City recently advertised
for applications for a small rehabilitation program
that would provide repairs to mobile and stick built
homes. Three applications were received and are
being reviewed. The work on these homes must be
completed by the end of the year. Readers' comments
