Sedona Marathon begins on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the
Goldenstein Gallery in Uptown Sedona at 6:30pm. The
seminar series runs through December 10, 2009. On
Thursday, January 7, 2010, the Sedona Marathon begins its "5th
Annual Biggest Loser" contest to help people lose weight prior
to the running of the 5th Annual Sedona Marathon on Saturday
February 6, 2010.

SEDONA, AZ (November 16, 2009) - Wouldn’t
you like to begin 2010 in better shape than you are now? Join Sedona
Marathon for the Fourth Annual “Off The Couch” program and don’t miss
the opportunity to change your body and transform your life. A free
public service program of the Sedona Marathon, "Off The Couch" was
designed to support people in creating a healthier lifestyle. Past
participants have lost up to 30 pounds. This month’s free seminar takes
place on Thursday November 19 at Goldenstein Gallery in uptown
Sedona at 6:30pm.
For the 3rd year world renowned Olympic trainer Phil Wharton of Wharton
Performance is directing the program. Nicknamed “The Mechanics” by USA
Today, the Whartons ( Phil and his father Jim) are internationally known
trainers, therapists, and authors who established their practice in 1989
and changed the face of human performance. They have worked with
luminaries in the sports world from professional football players to
Olympic gold medal winners. They have personally trained over 500
Olympic medalists. The Whartons have just been named to the Dr. Oz top
100 list. Dr. Oz was recently dubbed “America’s Doctor by Oprah Winfrey.
Look for Phil and his father Jim on upcoming segments of Dr. Oz’s new
show.
“Our aim is to change how people see themselves,” says Wharton “It is so
easy to get overwhelmed if you have gotten out of shape or gained
weight. The program encourages small shifts and steps that add up to a
healthier lifestyle. Small modifications and adjustments can change your
life over time. This is about your whole life and not just a quick fix.”
Wharton has put together an exciting team to support participants on
their individual journey.
This month’s inspiring seminar will be on injury prevention while you
are getting in shape. Led by Richelle McMaster and Layna Cirelli who
bring a combined background of over 70 years of experience this
informative evening will give your tips on how to take better care of
your most important piece of exercise equipment; your physical body.
McMaster is owner of Pilates with Richelle. Specializing in adding the
essential component of mind, body & spirit, she has 34 years of teaching
a variety of methods of exercise. Including dance, aerobics, step,
running, personal training, health &nutrition.
Cirelli has over 15 years experience as a deep tissue, sports and injury
rehabilitation specialist, and over 40 years training in dance,
movement, and martial arts. She is on the faculty of ASIS school of
massage in Clarkdale where she teaches connective tissue therapy and is
a co-instructor with Kinesis, Tom Myers’ (“Anatomy Trains”) school of
KMI Structural Integration.
The public is invited to join the Sedona Marathon for this fun and
interactive evening on Thursday November 19 at Goldenstein Gallery in
uptown Sedona. This event is free to the public but space is limited so
reservations are suggested. The final seminar of 2009 will take place on
December 10 and the Sedona Marathon will kick off their 5th Annual
Biggest Loser contest on Thursday January 7.
The Fifth Annual Sedona Marathon dubbed “Cinco De Marathon!” takes place
on Saturday February 6th 2010.
