Sedona art galleries host sizzling July 4th 1st
Friday tour
Sedona, AZ - July 3, 2008 - Sedona's finest art
galleries invite you to enjoy an evening of openings,
special guests, artists receptions and celebrations at
their 1st Friday in the Galleries event on July 4 from 5
– 8pm.
This monthly event has become one of the things “to do”
in Sedona over the past few years. Guests are enchanted by the array
of talent, and many from out of town locations make sure that their
trip coincides with a 1st Friday Event.
All guests are welcome to attend the 1st Friday Artwalk free of
charge and enjoy the Sedona Trolley, which does continuous loops to
all locations.
Some of July’s highlights include:
El Prado Gallery celebrates our Nation’s beginnings by
helping you begin your own art collection. On July 4th, El Prado by
the Creek starts the “Collector Inauguration” show and features
nationally recognized emerging artists and select works from well
established artists.
Erickson Studio Gallery will feature Marilyn Erickson working
on a new painting during the 1st Friday tour. Visitors can meet
the artist and see oil paintings in progress. She is a well-known
painter of the Southwest, especially Sedona and the Grand Canyon,
and her works are in collections internationally. The gallery
features her originals as well as Giclee reproductions, exquisite
pottery, locally made jewelry and ironwood carvings.
Goldenstein Gallery presents “The Big Bang” an exhibition
that celebrates the independent spirit and style of their gallery
artists. The amazing array of talent features work that is full of
color, motion, and a fresh sensibility that is fun yet
sophisticated. Representing 35 diverse artists, primarily local and
regional, the gallery is a multi-faceted celebration of independent
vision.
James Ratliff Gallery will be featuring sculptor James Muir
who has built upon his reputation as one of America’s foremost
sculptors to create an ever-expanding array of artistic commentary
on the social, political, and religious journey of man. His bronze
works have been exhibited and collected throughout the country.

Kinion Fine Art's celebrates the stunning work of
up-and-coming regional painters Tom Fish and Cody DeLong for the
month of July. Fish relocated to Sedona after a career as a Disney
animator. He followed his dream to paint full-time and now creates
sweeping, nearly photographic landscape images which are growing in
popularity.
A founder of Arizona Plein Air Painters and participant
in some of the most prestigious outdoor painting events in the
country, DeLong's luminous landscapes reflect his great discipline
and passion for the medium. Kinion is also holding a drawing to-win
a free dinner for two at Casa Bonita. No purchase necessary!
Kuivato Glass Gallery will be featuring Charlton Glassworks,
a studio created and operated by a family from the Pacific
Northwest. Their innovative artwork is comprised of fused glass and
copper with a southwestern, yet modern style.

Lanning Gallery features “Mark Gould: Living Color,” a
celebration of the artist’s bold palette in paintings that walk the
thin line between realism and abstraction.
Lark Art will be presenting the narrative art of
Adam Maeroff in "Once Upon a Time in the Negev." This exotic
exhibition portrays Maeroff's painted journey while living in the
Negev desert of southern Israel, where he worked as a farmer and
cattle wrangler. Maeroff's paintings allow a unique view of that
subtle yet vibrant world.

Gallery of Modern Masters will be kicking off the month with
an artist reception for the glass blowing team of Susanne Kindland
and James Kingwell from 5 to 8 PM catered by the popular restaurant,
Elote Cafe.
Sedona Art Center features the “Summer Gardens” exhibit in
the Members Fine Art Gallery featuring four talented local artists:
Julie Ronning Talbot, Cindi Thau, Norma Holden, and Judy Classen.
You can also enjoy the “2nd Annual Members Exhibition” in the
Community Gallery that presents the work of both emerging and
professional local artists. Sip a glass of wine from Page Springs
Cellars, visit with friends, and immerse yourself in a lovely art
experience.
Turquoise Tortoise Gallery showcases its unique and extensive
collection of contemporary and traditional hand-crafted Native
American jewelry, set in both silver and gold, featuring many
second- and third-generation jewelers.

VC Gallery of Fine Art will feature an exhibition of the
Stainless Steel “Kinetic Energy” sculptures by engineer/artist,
J.T.SEAY. Seay, a retired engineer utilizes his technical background
in physics plus an intimate working knowledge of metal fabrication
coupled with a unique approach to design that results in an
“artistic motion“ based on the concept of minimalization of
friction that mesmerizes."
A whirlwind of mesmerizing talent, intoxicating images and
entertainment, the Sedona Gallery Association tour is one of
Sedona’s “things to see.” Recently Sedona was named the “Number
Three Small Town Art Destination” by American Style Magazine.
