Sedona, AZ - July 3, 2008 - Sedona's finest art galleries invite you to enjoy an evening of openings, special guests, artists receptions and celebrations at their 1st Friday in the Galleries event on July 4 from 5 – 8pm.

This monthly event has become one of the things “to do” in Sedona over the past few years. Guests are enchanted by the array of talent, and many from out of town locations make sure that their trip coincides with a 1st Friday Event.

All guests are welcome to attend the 1st Friday Artwalk free of charge and enjoy the Sedona Trolley, which does continuous loops to all locations.

Some of July’s highlights include:

El Prado Gallery celebrates our Nation’s beginnings by helping you begin your own art collection. On July 4th, El Prado by the Creek starts the “Collector Inauguration” show and features nationally recognized emerging artists and select works from well established artists.

Erickson Studio Gallery will feature Marilyn Erickson working on a new painting during the 1st Friday tour. Visitors can meet the artist and see oil paintings in progress. She is a well-known painter of the Southwest, especially Sedona and the Grand Canyon, and her works are in collections internationally. The gallery features her originals as well as Giclee reproductions, exquisite pottery, locally made jewelry and ironwood carvings.

Goldenstein Gallery presents “The Big Bang” an exhibition that celebrates the independent spirit and style of their gallery artists. The amazing array of talent features work that is full of color, motion, and a fresh sensibility that is fun yet sophisticated. Representing 35 diverse artists, primarily local and regional, the gallery is a multi-faceted celebration of independent vision.

James Ratliff Gallery will be featuring sculptor James Muir who has built upon his reputation as one of America’s foremost sculptors to create an ever-expanding array of artistic commentary on the social, political, and religious journey of man. His bronze works have been exhibited and collected throughout the country.

A founder of Arizona Plein Air Painters and participant in some of the most prestigious outdoor painting events in the country, DeLong's luminous landscapes reflect his great discipline and passion for the medium. Kinion is also holding a drawing to-win a free dinner for two at Casa Bonita. No purchase necessary!
