NORAZ Poets
Expanding Outreach Programs
Press Release
(Sedona, Arizona) - NORAZ Poets is in the process of
expanding its outreach programs such as its Alzheimer's Poetry
Project. But we're in need of performers with a caregiver's heart.
"The Alzheimer's Poetry Project is wonderful and it fills my heart,"
says Christopher Lane, NORAZ director. "But I need help. It's tough
to find someone who has great performing skills and the strength and
courage of a daily caregiver."
The Alzheimer's Poetry Project was created by Gary Mex Glazner,
recently voted in as an Advisory Board Member for NORAZ. The project
uses classic poems such as Shakespeare, Yeats, Longfellow and
Bronte, performed with great energy for memory care residents,
sparking memories in over 16 locations in Arizona. So far the
project has received funding from the Flagstaff Community
Foundation, the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the Pendleton
Memorial Trust. It has also received articles in the Sedona Red Rock
News, the Arizona Republic and the front page on the Arizona Daily Sun. Recently, award winning reporter, Laurel Morales, reported on the
project for KNAU, Arizona Public Radio and can be heard at
knau.org as well as a
featured online interview with Kacey Kowers on
kaceykowers.com.
