    Cornville Fire Under Control

A fire that broke out Sunday afternoon , June 13, burned across an estimated 1,000 acres of  brush and trees near residential areas in Cornville and sparked evacuations.

So far, one structure has been destroyed.

According to InciWeb, The eastern flank of the fire remained active overnight, but overall fire activity was minimal.

Last night the fire moved into House Mountain, just northeast of the community of Cornville, and is currently burning away from populated areas.

Firefighters were taken off the west and east sides of the fire Sunday night for safety concerns due to the rugged terrain the fire moved into. Two engines patrolled and monitored established fire line east of Page Springs Road throughout the night.

This morning, crews are back on the fire line and actively engaged on fire suppression efforts. The fire continues to move to the east/northeast with fire activity expected to increase as temperatures warm up. Extreme temperatures and dry winds, along with rugged terrain will challenge firefighters today.

Per YCSO, all evacuations have been lifted. Residents are encouraged to remain prepared and stay ready. Sign up for emergency alerts through your county emergency management office website.
