COTTONWOOD, AZ (November 23, 2009) - Have you ever experienced anything that is pure dead brilliant? If you’ve made the trek ‘over the pond’ to the United Kingdom, perhaps you’ve heard this Glaswegian phrase.  It’s used to enthusiastically describe something that is really great.  Well, here’s your chance to experience something really great, right here in the Verde Valley.  Flagstaff Celtic sensations “Pure Dead Brilliant” will team up with Sedona favorite Vyktoria Pratt Keating for a special dual concert of Celtic music at The Old Town Center For The Arts in Cottonwood on Friday November 27th at 7:30 PM.

The two acts met this summer at the Flagstaff Renaissance Faire and will be doing concerts together throughout Northern Arizona this Fall.  The evening will feature traditional and contemporary Celtic music, with Vyktoria taking the first set, followed by Pure Dead Brilliant.

Pure Dead Brilliant, a 6-piece Celtic band from Flagstaff, has played together for many years to develop their distinct sound, full of harmony-driven songs and fun and fast tunes. Irish, Scottish, American, Old tyme, even “Green Day” songs are included in their material. Fiddle, Clarinet, Guitar, Bodhran, Whistles and some Irish Step Dancing find their way into the eclectic mix. A few of the members hail from the UK, lending an authenticity to their sound and banter.

While Vyktoria’s original material spans the folk to rock genres, not many in the area have been treated to her wide range of Celtic music.  Having released a Celtic CD entitled "After The Gathering", she specializes in songs that have a compelling storyline, from haunting ballads to rousing numbers and a few a-cappella tunes thrown in to showcase her pure vibrant voice.   A regular of Sedona and the region, Vyktoria lived and toured in the UK and has released 6 CDs.

It’s bound to be a fun, lyrical and satisfying night of great songs and melodies. There will be individual sets of music as well as collaboration amongst the musicians and a few surprises to be sure.  Come enjoy this Brilliant night of enchanting Celtic music in the warm acoustic setting of Old Town Center for The Arts. Guitars, Fiddles, Clarinet, Bodhran, Accordion, Whistles, Voices, Dancing, Humor and great songs...what more could you want?
