Canyon Moon Theatre announces new
series 'Movies at the Moon!'
SEDONA, AZ (November 23, 2009) - Join us for popcorn, candy and
movies Monday nights in the Village of Oak Creek! For several years
Canyon Moon Theatre has been bringing live theater, music and other
forms of entertainment to our community. Now we’ve added 'Movies at the
Moon,' an eclectic combination of films that will tickle your funny
bone, provoke conversation and give you a chance to see films that you
love, that you missed, that you want to see again.
Best in Show, November 30, is a
Christopher Guest mockumentary (Waiting For Guffman, This Is Spinaltap,
A Mighty Wind), that follows five entrants in a prestigious dog show.
The documentary-style film focuses on the slightly surreal interactions
among the various owners and handlers. From traveling to the show, to
preparing the dogs, to the show itself, the entire event is chronicled.
With a mostly improvised script, and laugh out loud delivery from a
wonderful cast, this film is a must see for animal and film lovers
alike.
In Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
(December 7), the legendary outlaws played by Paul Newman and Robert
Redford display their gifts for perfect comedic timing and fill the
screen with charisma as they pull off heist after heist in this Academy
Award-winning film. To evade a relentless posse, the boys flee to
Bolivia, but trouble finds these charming desperadoes wherever they go.
This mostly true story of fast draws and wild rides is also a study of
the remarkable friendship between Butch -- possibly the most likeable
outlaw in frontier history -- and his closest associate, the fabled,
ever-dangerous Sundance Kid.
The 39 Steps (1935), playing December 14,
is a classic Alfred Hitchcock mystery that tells the story of the wrong
man being drawn into a tale of intrigue, spies and murder without any
knowledge of how he became involved. Starring Robert Donet as the
quick-witted and suave Richard Hannay, the beautiful Madeleine Carroll
as Pamela and Peggy Ashcroft as Margaret, this film is timeless,
edge-of-your-seat entertainment from a master storyteller.
Tickets are $7 general admission, $5 for seniors.
