Letter to The Editor: Kazian on the SFD Budget

That article in the 2/7 Red Rock News by chief Kazian did one worthy service for us taxpayers. It announced that the SFD board was now looking into the upcoming fire district budget. The remainder of his message was an insult to the intelligence of the public. He prattled on about how and what a budget process is about. As if we taxpayers are so stupid as not to know anything about budgets. The nice sounding platitudes were all over the place but not one bit of information about what the board will place in their agenda for action.

That scared me. Because during the time before the $18 million bond issue vote last November this same Ty Montgomery SFD Board gang promoted the outlandish demand for tax money to spend foolishly on all those fire houses not needing repairs. Read More→

Cottonwood AZ (February 9, 2018) – Baseball and Softball players, boys and girls ages 7-18 get ready for the upcoming season with instruction in Cottonwood from a top Professional Arizona Coach Joe Sperle who has helped many players improve to their skills and advance to play in high school, college, and professionally and Mingus High Alumni All-State players, Hunter and Austin Zwart. Hunter played on the 2008 and 2009 back to back Mingus High State Championship teams. Austin was the AZ State Little League 2008 All-Star 12U Home Run Derby Champion and a 4 Year Baseball Letterman at Mingus High. Read More→

Camp Verde AZ (February 9, 2018) – As a wider, safer State Route 260 takes shape along 9 miles between Camp Verde and Cottonwood, those traveling this stretch now see a new bridge at Cherry Creek that will carry eastbound traffic.

Arizona Department of Transportation crews in Camp Verde completed the bridge recently as part of a $62 million project that has reached the halfway point and is on track for completion by year’s end. Read More→

Credit Card Fraud Suspect Being Sought

Cornville AZ (February 9, 2018) – UPDATE – Immediately following the media release issued on January 25, 2018, YCSO began receiving tips naming the suspect as 33- year-old Branden Anderson. As the investigation continued, deputies located additional identifying information documented by a drug store clerk during the suspect’s purchase of cigarettes with the stolen credit card. After reviewing archived booking photos of Anderson, deputies confirmed a match to security photos and also learned Anderson served prison time for trafficking in stolen property and drug possession.
