Today’s Photo from Ted Grussing Photography: Quiet hours

Thursday, February 8th, 2018

By Ted Grussing

… just before the sun sets beyond the horizon and with the low angle the atmosphere filters out the blue components of the visible spectrum and the rays spill across the landscape imparting a rich color to the rocks and everything else … and that is apparent in this shot I took of Sedona, last week. Most of the city is captured in this image as well as many of the named rocks. On the horizon from the left you have Kendrick Peak, The San Francisco Peaks and Mt Elden. On the lower right side of the image you have part of the Village of Oak Creek and to the left of that more of the Big Park area where a number of upscale communities and Verde Valley School are located; near right center is Cathedral Rock and above and to the right of that the Chapel area. Above and just left of Cathedral Rock is the airport, oak Creek flows between the two … to the left of the airport is West Sedona, uptown is above and to the right of the airport. The Red Rock Loop area is left and slightly below the airport. It was a beautiful scene!

logo_olli2Sedona AZ (February 8, 2018) – Who is delightfully jolly, brings everyone gifts, and gets around town on a reindeer sleigh? This description fits two people: Santa Claus, of course, and Patrick Schweiss, Executive Director of the Sedona International Film Festival.

Patrick’s ebullience is renowned, and each year he brings us a week of wonderful films and other events at the Sedona International Film Festival.  (Sorry, we lied about the reindeer.) Want to know what’s in Patrick’s sack for us this year at the 24th annual SIFF? If you do, he will provide an exclusive peek at the best of his goodies at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute’s (OLLI’s) Lunch and Learn program on Wednesday, February 14, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., in room 34 of Yavapai College’s Sedona Center (on Cultural Park Place, across Rte 89A from Red Rock High School).
