logo_sedonafiredistrictSedona AZ (September 2, 2017) – At 1:58 pm on September 2, 2017, Sedona fire crews were dispatched for an extreme fall injury below Midgley Bridge. Upon arrival, Battalion Chief Dave Cochrane located the victim on a ledge approximately 65 feet below the trail that they had fallen from. BC Cochrane directed his firefighters to rappel the vertical rock face to establish rapid contact with the victim. After firefighters gained access they determined that the victim was a 2-1/2 year old child and was deceased.

The family of the child is on vacation visiting the area from Omaha, Nebraska.

The scene was turned over to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office who will be investigating the incident and recovering the body. All further inquiries regarding this incident should be directed to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office PIO.

The series is hosted by Rolling Stone Magazine’s Peter Travers, via satellite, and features a Q&A with the filmmaker and stars from the film each month.

The September premiere event will feature the debut of “Year By The Sea” — based on the New York Times Bestseller — for one show, one night only on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Peter Travers will host and introduce the film; and the Q&A following the film will feature Karen Allen, one of the stars of the film, plus other cast members and filmmakers. Letter to The Editor: A disaster can be avoided

Two letters were published by the Sedona Red Rock News in the 9/1/17 issue. One was from Debra Williams and the other from Lenore Kerr expressing thanks to the fire district personnel for helping them when they needed it. Both cases illustrate what we all know. I certainly do from my own experiences. These front line women and men are quality people rendering professional service and they deserve our respect and support without reservation. Read More→
