“This is a long-term commitment that is very personal for us,” said Steve Walker, the Yavapai College vice president of advancement. “Most of the team members were students at Yavapai College, and many were in our fire science program. logo_USFS_USDAFlagstaff AZ (July 3, 2013) – A high volume of recreational traffic is expected in the forest through the Fourth of July week and upcoming weekend, and forest users are reminded to be safe and to abide by the current restrictions in place across the forest.

Additionally, the Fossil Creek area is closed due to extreme fire danger and will not be open until the area receives significant moisture. More information and a detailed map of the closure area can be found at Campsites will fill up quickly, so visitors should call the nearest ranger station to inquire on status, keeping in mind that most federal offices throughout the state will be closed on the Fourth of July. Crowding and traffic is expected at popular creek-side locations near Sedona, so consider rim campgrounds near Flagstaff and Happy Jack as an alternative. Read More→

logo_ycsoPrescott AZ (July 3, 2013) – The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has compiled a list of homes/structures in the Peeples Valley and Yarnell communities lost as a result of the Yarnell Hill Fire. The 129 addresses are based on a direct survey and represent a visual inspection of each property. The survey provided to YCSO media does delineate whether the structure(s) were specifically a home. Only 2 of the addresses are in Peeples Valley, the rest are in Yarnell. Read More→
